My new car

Philosophy

I have never had a new car and as I don't approve of the resources that go into a new car I guess I will never have one.

So, I have decided to build a car.

There is a fairly complex and organic nature to my car building specification and this is outlined in the rules that follow:
1) Parts should be unwanted where-ever possible.
2) Costs should be minimised, if it doesn't cost much, then it isn't worth much to others.
3) The result must be faster than my brothers Porsche.

Although number 3 is not really in-keeping with the ecological image of the car, it does support an important purpose.

Other specification.
4) Although Lotus 7 type cars are nice, I fancied something different
5)
I don't want a good car, I want a car that is fun.  If I wanted a practical car, then a 2 year old Ford Fiesta would work.
6) Part of the fun is the build, so I will adopt a Locost approach, building what I can (within the limits of my ability to fabricate and safety)

A) I have decided to build a 2 seater car a Sylva Phoenix.  This is a kit-car (but I am not going to buy a full kit as these would be new parts).
B) The above specification also points towards the use of a motorbike engine.  These are interesting in that they allow the car to be very light (light also equals quick).

let battle commence!
